Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box Eyeshadow Palette

Urban Decay has been my favorite makeup brand for as long as I can remember. The first product I ever purchased from them was their Primer Potion, and then I moved on to eyeshadows and fell in love. They are known for their amazingly pigmented shadows, and now they have gorgeous lipsticks to add to that mix.

If you'd like to see my review on the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy, go here.

Today, I have one of my favorite eyeshadow palettes to share with you. Mind you, this palette has been loved for a while now, so it's not in brand new condition. If you can't stand seeing used products, well, then close the window and come back later ;).

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box Eyeshadow Palette is encased in a sturdy box with a velvet/suede texture and some bling on top. Every box comes with a free mini Primer Potion, too. The casing does attract dust and fuzzies, so it's best stored away from... air, lol.

Inside, there's a good sized mirror on the lid, a little nook for the standard applicators (that everyone throws away), and the shadows all lined up nicely.

The color selection ranges from brights to neutrals and then there's the classic black, perfect for deepening the outer corners or using as eyeliner.

You can probably tell that Ransom is my favorite shade, evident by the big dent in the middle of it. They're all gorgeous shades with excellent pigmentation.

I think my swatches are blurry again...dangit! Sorry, guys!

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box retails for $38.00 on some sites, and on others, they're on offer for $10.00! Check Urban Decay and Ulta for their current deals. My box was gifted to me over Christmas, so I'm very grateful, as it's one of the most used palettes in my collection.

Do you have this palette? Which shade is your favorite? Do you love Urban Decay as much as I do?

Back to School Outfit, Accessories, and Grad School

It's back to school, for everyone, including myself. So here's a little outfit that I would love to wear on my first day back.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed a tweet or two about getting into grad school. Well, my lovely friends, I am in, and I am pretty excited. This is coming from someone who hated high school, crawled and hid myself during my undergrad.

I was feeling pretty useless with my Bachelor's because really? Finance and Economics? So not me. Yeah, I help people with financial aid. A lot. I'm obsessed with numbers and spreadsheets, but as a career, I don't want to bother with people's money. I can barely handle my own.

So, I'm pursuing my Master's in Healthcare Administration and Management, specializing in Project Management and Human Resource Management. Woah there, girl. Ambitious. Meh... I need a little ambition in my life, and reading up on everyones adventures and successes made me want to chase my own dreams of delving into the healthcare industry without doing all the bloody work. Get it, bloody? Heeehee. Ok, I'll stop. I honestly don't care if I just work the front desk at the hospital greeting people, and I'd probably be the one crying for all the people in pain. I have a very soft heart, and I'm very empathetic. Too much, maybe. But so what? People need to be cared for, and they need to know that people care. I want to be one of those people.

Anyway, if you got this far in my post, tell me your ambitions, your dreams, and whether you're chasing them down.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Back to Fuchsia

Ah yes, lipsticks, my new obsession. Never did I think it would get this bad. Well, ladies and gentlemen, never say never. Ever.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks are popping up on the blog network, and of course, I had to pick up a couple of shades and share them with you. The first shade I have is Back to Fuchsia.

The packaging is quite nice, with a blue/purple mirror finish housing and a silver band around the middle. The Rimmel crown is embossed on the top of the case, while the lipstick label is on the bottom.

Back to Fuchsia is a beautiful blue-toned pink shade, hence the name fuchsia. It is bold, and bright, but I think that even if you're a little color-shy, like I was, you could get along with this as it's so pretty!

Sorry, again a blurry swatch... need to bust out the tripod next time!

Here are some swatches, on my hand and then on my lips, for your viewing pleasure. As you can see, it's bright, but it's also very wearable. If you've seen my swatches of Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy, you'll see that Back to Fuchsia is a tad bit more wearable. It's just a gorgeous shade of pink!

The formulation is moisturizing and doesn't stick to my dry patches. It has a glossy finish, but does feel a bit tight after the lipstick has set on my lips. I really like that I can actually feel it set. I can't vouch for lasting power, because quite frankly, I didn't go anywhere, but I would assume 2-3 hours with eating or drinking, which is rather standard for lipsticks.

Here's a side by side comparison of Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Back to Fuchsia and Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy.

Rimmel Back to Fuchsia                                              Urban Decay Anarchy

Back to Fuchsia is just a bit less pigmented and less blue-toned. If you're not willing to shell out $22.00 for Anarchy, I'd bet you'd love Back to Fuchsia for around $8.00 at your local drugstore.

Do you own any Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks? What are your thoughts on this shade? What about compared to Anarchy? Talk to me ;).

NARS Fairy's Kiss Eyeshadow Palette

I was looking into upcoming fall collections, and my eyes happened to hop on the NARS Limited Edition Fall 2013 Collection Eyeshadow Palettes. There are two eyeshadow palettes in the collection, Fairy's Kiss and Ride Up to the Moon. Both palettes are gorgeous, but seeing as I have way too many neutral brown palettes, I figured why not venture into the land of purples and plums for the fall season.

NARS Fairy's Kiss Eyeshadow Palette

The packaging is typical of NARS (or from what I've seen), with the sleek black housing and a big, bold NARS right on top. The shade information can be found on the back of the box along with all of the ingredients used in each shade. I do have to say that the packaging is similar to ELF's but NARS' is more weighty and more sturdy. The finish does attract all the grub and grime, though, so I'll have to be very careful.

There are six (6) shades in the NARS Fairy's Kiss palette including:
Manosque - Shimmery soft pink, which is also a limited edition shade.
Kalahari II - Shimmery light brown
Brousse II - A mix of a deep purple and black with flecks of fuchsia shimmer
Tokyo II - Light, shimmery lavender
Brumes I - Matte charcoal gray
Pandora II - Matte black

I have to admit that my favorite shade in the Fairy's Kiss palette is Brousse II. It's the most gorgeous violet/black mix I've ever seen! My swatch does not do it justice!
The other shades are pretty standard in my opinion, but I do love having these shades packed together in one palette. I can do a bunch of looks from these shades alone.

These eyeshadows are extremely soft, and I almost broke through Manosque when first swatching. I didn't know I had to be so careful, lol. I like the softness, and it makes blending a dream.

Pigmentation is great on all shades except for the two matte shades, Brumes I and Pandora II. This could be due to their matte finish, but I think they still make great crease and outer v colors.

Overall, I'm happy with this palette, but I do think NARS products have to be regulated as "super special treats" due to their price range. I picked up this palette at the Nordstrom website for $45.00, and that price is standard in US stores. I do love that they provide free shipping and free returns on all products.

Have you picked up this palette? Are you planning on it? What do you think of NARS shadows?

PS: If you want a chance to win this palette, stay tuned. I have something planned ;). That's all for now!

Current Lust-Haves | 1st Edition

It's the weekend, well, technically it's almost Monday already... Oh how time flies! Anyway, I usually don't post much on weekends, since I consider it my little break. I like to spend those two days browsing blogs and seeing what's new. I do think that others have the same idea, since not much goes on in the blogging world during this time, lol.

Today, I figured I'd share some of the items I have been lusting after for a while now. While I don't intend on purchasing any of these soon, you never know what'll happen. ;)
In the even that you're wondering, the Tarte Blush is in the shade Amused, and the YSL Lipstick is in Opera Rose.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy Review and Swatches

Urban Decay released their new range of lipsticks called the Revolution Lipsticks. There are 22 amazing shades ranging from nudes to corals and pinks to reds and vamps. There is definitely a shade, or two, for everyone. Today, I get to share Anarchy with you!

Urban Decay describes these lipsticks as:

"Creamy, badass luxury. Our Pigment Infusion System™ delivers insane color payoff with creamy shine, Maxi-Lip™ plumps and nourishing oils leave lips cushiony soft."

The little one on the left is the lipstick sample I received in my Ipsy bag for August. They sent me the shade Anarchy, which is gorgeous! The one on the right is the full size Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick, and I have the shade Turn On, which will be reviewed at a later time.

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous with a "metal" finish casing and the Urban Decay initials embossed on the top. The sample lipstick is encased in a smooth bullet, but the full-size bullet has wave-like form to it. It's quite nice. The name of the shade is placed neatly on the bottom of the bullet on a sticker the same color as the lipstick. No need to guess what name goes with which shade. Awesome. The one thing about the smooth, metal finish is that fingerprints do tend to stick. That's doesn't bother me, but I thought I'd let you know in the case that it would bother you. ;)

Here is the beloved Anarchy. It is a beautiful vivid, bright pink with blue/purple undertones. When I first saw this shade, I fell in love with it. I wanted it, but I wasn't sure it would match me. I was so happy that I received it in my Ipsy bag this month - I'd definitely get the full size when I run out.

This is a one swipe swatch, and as you can see, it is insanely pigmented (sorry it's a bit blurry). I applied this to my lips with no problem, even though I had a few dry patches. I was really amazed that the formula didn't stick to them - score! I drank some water, and though there was transfer to the glass, it didn't look like anything had come off of my lips. The formula is really moisturizing and not drying at all. After I removed the lipstick with a makeup remover wipe, there was a stain left behind on my lips. It's nice, like a just bitten look.

Here's a photo of me, wearing Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy. It's such a pretty color, and I think it matches me quite well. I love it! Up next on my wish list are Catfight, Streak, F-Bomb, Native, Fiend, and all of the other pink and red shades, haha!

What do you think? Do you have any of the new Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks? What shades would you like to have?
