RIMMEL 60 SECONDS MINTILICIOUS | NOTW

Rimmel 60 Seconds Mintilicious. The obsession with mint tones continue. I purchased Mintilicious along with Breakfast in Bed, and I love them both. Mintilicious is a bit darker and warmer, but it is just as beautiful. I promise, I'll have some autumn appropriate shades coming soon, but for now, enjoy the minty goodness while it lasts!

RIMMEL 60 SECONDS MINITLICIOUS
I'm really loving the thick, rounded brush of these little nail polishes. They are perfect for my small nails, and the rounded tip makes application easier.

Have you picked up any nail polishes lately?

EBAY HAUL | STATEMENT NECKLACES

Statement Necklaces. I've seen some really pretty statement necklaces on Pinterest, and while you can purchase them from Etsy, I prefer a cheaper alternative - Ebay. Prices range from $1 and up, so you're sure to find something in your price range. If you're a Pinterest addict like myself, you might see some familiar gems! There are so many options available from simple designs to more elaborate pieces. I prefer more simple designs, as going overboard can make it look like my necklace is trying to eat me. So here's what I got!

EBAY STATEMENT NECKLACES
Flower Crystal Bubble Bib Statement Necklace in Black and Pink ($3.78 with free shipping here)
Crystal Resin Flower Statement Necklace in Beige, Light Blue, and Multi-Color ($2.73 with free shipping here)
Mint Green Jewel Crystal Statement Necklace ($5.99 with $6.00 shipping here)
The seller I purchased from is sold out at the moment, but here is an alternative seller with a slightly higher cost. I haven't purchased from this seller before, so like always, please do proper research and exercise caution before purchasing anything on any website.

What do you think of my picks? Have you purchased any statement pieces lately? Please do share!

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD REVIEW

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD. I've been hit by the GLAMGLOW fever, thanks to Ipsy's kind introduction to the brand this month. If you haven't joined Ipsy yet, consider it, if only for the fact that you get crazy cool discounts on products like GLAMGLOW. I may not have liked the bags recently, but the discount we got was pretty darn good. Anyway, you're here for the GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD. Forgive the all caps spelling - I honestly do not know which is the proper way to write it out, so we're going all caps all the way.

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD TINGLEXFOLIATE TREATMENT
In my August 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag, I was one of the lucky ones to get the GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD sample (0.5 oz). Others received this months ago, and I was really happy that this time around, I got one! The tube is pretty small, but it is a generous size with a value of around $24, considering a full jar is 1.7 oz for $69. Ipsy only costs $10 a month, so I would say I got my money's worth two times over.
Trying to get it out of the tube was quite the challenge. The mud hardened around the opening of the tube so I had to squeeze with all my might (no joke) to try to get it out... of course the stuff exploded all over my hand and my wall. I probably applied half the tube to my face for fear of wasting. Oh well, that is my life, haha!

The consistency of the YOUTHMUD is creamy and chunky with bits of tea leaves and very small grains throughout. Application is rather simple - apply it to your face, let it dry, and then remove using water and circular motions to exfoliate. At first, the mask feels very tingly as it is stimulating the blood circulation in your face. For some, this could be rather uncomfortable, but it didn't bother me much. As it dries, the tingling goes away, and then you look like this...
The instructions say to leave the mask on for 10 minutes, but I live in a very humid climate, so the mask took about half an hour to dry. Afterwards, my face felt very soft and smooth with a visible glow and less visible pores.
Was it worth $69, you ask? It depends. I'm sure there are other masks out there that can do the same for much less, however, I have yet to find it, so I would say this is where my money's going to be going. But fear not, my friends! GLAMGLOW offers the YOUTHMUD in a Little Sexy size for $24. You get 0.5 oz, just like this tube that I got, so you can try it out without committing to the full price.

So what do you think? Have you tried any GLAMGLOW masks? I'm giving away a GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD here, if you're interested. :)

JUST BREATHE | SUNDAY SIT DOWN

Just Breathe. Sometimes, I forget to take a step back and admire the beauty that is in the world. I get so caught up in the stressful, ugly parts of life that I forget about the good things. This past Friday and Saturday, we spent some time with family, which is always stressful. There are people who have great families who are understanding and... nice. My families are... stubborn. The one I was born with and the one I married into. Time with them is limited, but when it happens, we get so stressed out, so we spent Sunday recharging with our kids, and it was really nice. We went downtown to the tourist district, ate lots of great food, and hung out with the sea creatures. If you ever come to Guam, you must check out the Underwater World. It's my favorite thing to do here. Just you and the sharks, rays, turtles, and other beautiful sea creatures. Well, of course, you're separated by this huge chunk of glass, but you know. It's close enough.

Moral of today's post: Don't forget to breathe. Breathe in the beauty of the life that you have and the company of the ones that you love. We don't really have that much time to live, so make the most of it. Do the things you want to do. Don't just dream. DO. Make it count. Make people smile, and your heart will smile too.
We had a nice meal of ribs, chicken, and seafood pasta from the Sea Grill.
Can you tell me what kind of shark this is? There were more than 10 of these in the aquarium! I'm sad I didn't get a shot of the turtles and the rays. They are beautiful!
The anemones look like spaghetti!
Live coral and clown fish just hanging out together.
Spot the octopus!
Mr. Electric Eel is guarding his post.
Beautiful lion fish.
Transparent jellyfish. The staff put some sort of light in the tank that makes them change colors. I'll call them disco jellyfish!
Upside down jellyfish just having a party.
This guy is my favorite. This tiny little sea horse is the fastest creature ever! He's smaller than my pinky finger (and I have a 10 year old's pinky finger). I always come to this aquarium to look for the sea horses. They're amazing creatures. So tiny, yet so regal and majestic.

Hope you like the photos! How do you like to unwind from stressful days? I'm thinking a spa day next!

AUGUST 2014 IPSY GLAM BAG

August 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag. This month's bag wasn't so great. Let me just say that now. I did receive a couple of things that I'm excited to try, but the rest were just... meh. The bag is really cute though. I like the creamy orange polka dots. Very summery.

AUGUST 2014 IPSY GLAM BAG
This month I received deluxe samples of the GLAMGLOW Youthmud and the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. The other products were just not up my street, if you know what I mean. However, I am excited to review those two products soon, so stay tuned!

DEPRESSION: A SILENT SADNESS | SUNDAY SIT DOWN

A Silent Sadness. Last week was a relatively hard week for me, because of Robin Williams' passing. He was such a huge part of my life growing up, and even now, I can watch  his movies over and over again. I have never been so sad to lose someone that I do not even know personally, but I was devastated. Every time I saw a picture, I remembered what they said about how he had been struggling with depression, and it was bad enough that he took his own life. That broke my heart into a million pieces, and I felt so sad that this man who could make the whole entire world laugh until they peed their pants was feeling all this pain inside his heart. I cried for him, and I wish that we could've made him feel the happiness and joy that he was able to make us feel.

Depression is a terrible illness that affects so many people, yet the general population tend to ignore it and have made it a stigma and taboo to discuss. People with depression feel like they need to hide it or pretend that nothing is wrong in order to get along with the world. WHY?!?! You don't tell people with cancer or diabetes to suck it up and get over it. As those are illnesses that are out of a person's control, so is depression. It's a chemical imbalance in the brain that affects moods. You probably know a few people struggling with depression. They're just too embarrassed to say it out loud.

Well, I'm going to say something now. I've struggled with depression for over 15 years, and let me tell you that it sucks to feel this way. Most people can't put their feelings into words, because most of the time, they don't know what's going on. They don't know why they feel so completely alone and utterly sad, and they feel it in their bones. It's the depression.

This video is where I share my experience with depression, both as a sufferer of depression and as someone who's close cousins has depression as well. This video was hard to make, but I urge you to watch it and share it, because as hard as it is to watch and to acknowledge the fact that depression does exist and that the world is not full of unicorns and rainbows for some people, it's important to be aware of the kinds of feelings people might feel. And it's not our fault. We didn't ask for this.

Awareness can help save lives. Save one today.

What are your experiences with depression? Please share below. Let's have a discussion. :)

TARTE RAINFOREST AFTER DARK LIMITED EDITION EYE AND CHEEK PALETTE REVIEW

Tarte Rainforest After Dark Eye & Cheek Palette. Famous for their Amazonian Clay blushes, Tarte is a brand that I've had my eyes on for a while now. A couple of weeks ago, they had their Friends and Family sale, and I can say that I raided the sale section, because the 30% extended into the sale section! Total steal! My order hasn't come in yet, but I do have the Rainforest After Dark Limited Edition Eye and Cheek Palette that I will be sharing with you today. I purchased this palette on Ulta during their latest sale and received 20% off the original $38 price tag. Not bad at all.

RAINFOREST AFTER DARK
In this palette, there are 6 eyeshadows, a bronzer, a highlighter, and a blush. The eyeshadow shades are:
  • bare to explore (matte pink beige)
  • make a mauve (satin plum mauve)
  • plum away with me (dark plum)
  • up to no gold (shimmery gold)
  • tan-gled up in you (matte light brown)
  • don't run a brown (matte dark brown)
  • park ave princess (matte warm light brown bronzer)
  • champagne (shimmery beige highlighter)
  • unleashed (matte nude rose blush)
The formulation of the powders are soft, smooth, and oh so buttery, especially the blush. The pigmentation is good, but it takes a few swipes for the lighter shades. Overall, I'm really impressed with the quality of everything in this palette. The case is sturdy and really cute while the inside of the palette contains almost everything you'll need for a full face of makeup. It is definitely perfect for traveling as well. For the price of $38 (Sephora, Ulta, Tarte), you get so much bang for your buck, and I really do recommend the Rainforest After Dark, especially if you're looking to try Tarte for the first time.

COVERGIRL OUTLAST STAY BRILLIANT GLOSSTINIS IN BAHAMA MAMA | NOTW

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstinis in Bahama Mama. These little nail polishes are some of the cutest drugstore polishes around. They come in tiny rounded square bottles, and they might just make you squeal a little bit. I saw these several months ago and grabbed a few shades. For little suckers, they are priced at $2.99 ($4.99 where I live), which is more than my favorite Sinful Colors, but they're cute, so whatever.

BAHAMA MAMA
Bahama Mama is a creamy pale orange, reminiscent of creamsicle bars (yum) with shimmers throughout. The formula is smooth and creamy, and takes 3 coats to achieve an opaque finish. It does take a while to dry, so you'll need a bit of patience and a distraction that doesn't include your hands.

Have you tried CoverGirl polishes? What's your favorite shade at the moment?

HAVING AN OPINION | SUNDAY SIT DOWN

Having an opinion. The sailor in me might come out here. I've given you fair warning, haha.

Growing up, I was always getting in trouble for running my mouth. My parents always scolded me, the other kids hated me, because I have strong opinions. If I don't like something or if I think something is stupid, I make it obvious and say it. You see this brain to mouth filter thing that a lot of people have? I don't really have that. However, I have learned that if you want people to accept you in this society, you need one of those... or several. That doesn't sit right with me.

Our voice and opinions are unique, and while not everyone will agree with everyone else, it's important to have that difference in opinions in order to learn and grow as people. We are not static, flat, and boring. We are amazing individuals who have different perspectives in life, and these perspectives have created some of the most beautiful ideas on this earth. We wouldn't have very many options in life if it weren't for these people with these brilliant opinions, right?

This morning, I participated in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter about Hits and Misses (beauty products), and I was getting frustrated at the amount of people who were saying: "This might be controversial, but...." There were so many! I wanted to tweet "Just because you don't like something doesn't make it controversial. It's just your opinion." But you know that filter thing - I might piss someone off. So I took to my blog instead to share how frustrating it is to see so many people thinking their opinions could be controversial because it's different.

Now that that's said, having an opinion does not mean that you can be mean and cruel. When I was younger (elementary/middle school age), people thought of me as a bitch and really mean. They're probably right, because what did I know back then about thinking about what you say before you say it. I didn't learn that until later when reality decided to slap me in the face several times. After those experiences, I became one of the most quiet, reserved people you'll ever meet. My opinion stays in my brain most times, and I just sit back and watch people as an observer, not really a participator in life.

What kind of life is that? It's not really a life, to be honest. I'd much rather be called a bitch for saying what I think and feel than to hold everything inside while it's dying to get out. There's a difference between being a bitch to be cruel and being a bitch because people can't handle the truth. I can't do anything about those that can't handle the truth. There is a balance that I'm working on, and so far, it's good. I still get called a bitch, but that's just because they know I'm right (Ha! Was that bitchy or what!). I say things more kindly now, trying to understand the perspectives involved, and while I am considered a total bitch by some, others regard my opinion and appreciate my honesty. There's always a balance, and it's up to you if you want to find it and work for it.

There is so much censorship out there, we have to be careful not to censor ourselves and our lives to the point where our originality disappears and we become like everyone else. Life is about creating ourselves, embracing our differences, and living out our dreams and adventures. Don't hide. Shine!

Thoughts? :)

HOW TO: PRODUCT REVIEWS | BLOGGING TIPS

How to: Product Reviews. We all have different learning styles, and our review formats will not appeal to everyone's style, but what it will do is reflect your personality and let it shine. While I am no blogging expert, I do read and write a lot of product reviews, and I am just going to take some time to share some observations and tips that I've learned through blogging.

HOW TO: PRODUCT REVIEWS
FORMAT
Depending on what you look for in a product, your product review will most likely focus on those items. For myself, I find that I like to get to the point and not dilly dally too much around small details. A person who depots their eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks won't really care what the packaging looks like. However, for someone who likes to display their products will take packaging into consideration. I am somewhere in the middle. I've found that if you have large, clear photos that demonstrate a product's beauty, you won't have to talk too much about what it's made out of. You can go straight to talking about the formula, consistency, and what you like/don't like about the product. Also, you can write in several paragraphs, one for each point, or summarize everything in one short paragraph. A typical product review on A Beauty Moment looks like this:
  • Short Background
  • Name of product and brand
  • Packaging
  • Formula and Application
  • Swatches
  • Likes and Dislikes
  • Where to Buy and Cost

PHOTOS
When you watch ads on the internet and on television, you are usually drawn in by the bold, vivid colors and clear, high definition images, right? Same with product reviews. You want your product photos and swatches to be BIG, BOLD, CLEAR, and most importantly, you want to showcase the beauty of that product. If there's a nice detail on the packaging that you would like to showcase, zoom in. (Tutorial: Make Photos Brighter)

There are many bloggers and Youtubers that use photos from Google searches, Pinterest, etc., and I have to warn you of using those photos. Firstly, they aren't the most attractive photos, because it's clear that they aren't yours. Second, the original photographer can retaliate if they don't like the way you used the photo or if they just don't like people using their photos. Sites like Polyvore or RewardStyle are okay, since the products are linked directly to vendors, but when you download a photo and use it, be sure to use caution.

NEGATIVE REVIEWS
First, let me say that just because a review is negative, does not mean that it is more honest than a positive review. I'm not really sure why people get excited when negative reviews are posted. We don't like negative reviews, because that means someone somewhere wasted their money. Not good. However, we write negative reviews every so often, and there is a proper way to go about doing so. I've found that completely bashing and blasting a product or company is not the way to go. Why? As bloggers, we want companies to work with us. When brands see us saying nasty things about other brands, they will think twice before considering working with us. Wayne Goss, legendary makeup artist is a perfect example. Most companies don't work with him, regardless of his million+ following, because of how he worded reviews in the past. They use his videos as company training tutorials, but they won't send him products to try out and review or even put him on their PR list. Why? Probably because they're scared of what he'll say.

Also, brands can retaliate and some do. You do not want to be sued by a brand, because your negative review "ruined' their company. Real story right here. Yes, it sucks, it's scary, and it's very possible. Again, be careful what you say. There are ways to say negative things without being nasty and hateful. When you completely bash a brand or product, it turns people away from that product and that brand, and it really doesn't help anyone. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion and with that opinion. While we can and should respect each others' opinions, everything on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt.

SPONSORED REVIEWS
Ahhh the controversy is here! Lol, I'm kidding. However, people get so put off by sponsored reviews, and I know it has a lot to do with companies buying positive opinions. You can see it clearly in Youtube and blogs, and it is a little disheartening, especially when every single person that received the PR kit has nothing bad to say. Very fishy and it turns off your readers and viewers. If they start to suspect, they won't trust you anymore, and you don't want that.

Sponsored reviews are when a company pays you to review a product, and it's good, because it means you are on a company's radar. There's absolutely nothing wrong with making money off your blog as long as you continue to provide excellent quality, relevant content. Don't promote a hammer if you're mainly a beauty blog, you know? Blogging, especially fashion and beauty blogging can be really expensive. People will get all nasty, because mostly they are jealous and hateful trolls - so just ignore them. For your loyal readers, though, you want to be completely transparent. You want to have a clear disclaimer at the beginning or end of your sponsored post that is easy to see. And no, a * is not good enough. You need to be CRYSTAL CLEAR. Nobody likes a shady blogger or Youtuber.

There are probably a lot more points to hit, but I'm going to save that for another day. What are some of your thoughts on product reviews? Like them? Hate them? What about sponsored posts? Share below! :)
